James A. Devor is a composer and double bassist based in Hartford, CT. He currently studies music composition as a graduate student at The Hartt School and previously received BMs in music education and music theory/composition at West Chester University of PA. James has been awarded the Excellence in SCRA Award, the Margaret Carey Award, the Roz Patton Award, and the WCUSO Quad Concert Composition Contest. He has studied with Robert Carl, Daron Hagen, Robert Maggio, Gilda Lyons, Adam Silverman, and Mark Rimple, and been a participant at Wintergreen Composer’s Retreat, Percussion Workshop, Sewanee Winterfest, and the European American Musical Alliance. James' interests include studying and performing early music, playing double bass in bluegrass and folk bands, and experimenting with new electronics in his own compositions. |
